Christmas is my absolute favorite time of year, and I know it’s at the top of the list for my kids (and yours!). I try to make the most of the season with as many varied experiences as possible to create memories my children will cherish throughout their lives. And one of those memories is sharing with them the foundational truths of the Holy Scriptures in relation to this wonderful season. I don’t want them to only remember the presents and the cookies and the twinkling lights; I want them to remember how the prophecies of the Old Testament and the fulfillment of those prophecies in the New Testament proclaim the truth of the scriptures and the good tidings of the Gospel. I’m excited to join Life of a Homeschool Mom for the Homeschooling Through the Holidays Series with Weaving Scripture Through the Christmas Season.
In our materialistic, humanistic, post-modern society, apologetics is more important than ever. Helping our children to know the scriptures and to be able to defend them is imperative. Moms, it is up to us to show our children that Christmas is not just a sweet story of a baby in a manger, but that it is a true story of a real God who became man, who was promised thousands of years before His birth, and who came to save and to judge.
