I was excited to be able to share how we do piano instruction in our homeschool at Music in Our Homeschool last week. Have you ever considered this option for your family?
One of my greatest desires is to show that homeschooling is not only the best option, but is a very doable option, no matter what your circumstances are. And while thousands of new families are added to the homeschool population each year, I still see them fall into the thinking that so much of their instruction must be outsourced. While this is definitely a wonderful option, it doesn’t have to be the norm. (Read my post on Keeping the HOME in Homeschool for more on this.)
Finding a quality teacher, travel time and distance, and the cost of lessons can be all be obstacles for families with several children. That’s how it was for me. With five children, and at least 4 taking lessons at one time, it was quite the juggling act, and it was becoming a strain on the budget. So I did some research and found lots of great options that were free (or almost free) and could be easily adapted to fit our homeschool schedule.

How lovely. You did your homework and it worked out. I wish I had stuck with my piano lessons. I guess it’s never too late to start again. I would love if you shared this with our readers at our link party, Dishing It & Digging It. The party is live now. just go to my blog.
Thanks for the invite! I’ll head over and share. : )
I’m a piano student myself and I would love to teach piano to my own kids. Homeschooling is something that I have not considered so far (my baby is only 4 months old) but I would be curious to get the opinion (pros and cons) from someone that is personally doing it. Do you have any other post that talks about pros and cons in homeschooling?
Thank you and have a terrific Tuesday!
Oh boy: do I ever have posts about homeschooling! Just click on the homeschooling tab on my blog menu and scroll through the topics there. There’s also a link to my Facebook Group for homeschoolers. Let me know if you have any questions!
Hi Nicki, very cool! I homeschooled my kiddos when they were young and they took piano lessons. What a great alternative for homeschooling parents.
Thanks for sharing and linking up at Dishing It & Digging It. Hope to see your creativity each week! 🙂
Wow! You did an excellent job! I’m hoping that I could take my kids into piano lessons, it’d be fun to watch them learn how to play.
