Save the Planet – Don’t Have Children

America, Blog, Faith

“You have to have ubiquitous availability of fertility management so women can choose how many children to have, the spacing of the children. You have to lift child survivial rates so that parents feel comfortable having small families and most important – you have to educate the girls and empower the women. And that’s the most powerful leveraging factor, and when that happens the population begins to stabilize and societies begin to make better choices and more balanced choices.” – Al Gore (New York, June 22, 2011)

Ahh, Al Gore doing what he does best; spewing nonsense about something that doesn’t even exist to the uninformed masses who don’t think for themselves. Let’s take this statement and blow it to kingdom come.

First of all, America does have the ubiquitous availability of fertility management. We’ve got more birth control choices than a woman knows what to do with in this country. You can prevent a birth before it happens or you can take the life after it’s conceived. You can even drop your baby off at the local fire department with no questions asked after it’s born.

Women already have the ability to decide how many children to have. They know how to space children. What most don’t know is that God already knows how to space children, too.

Child survival rates in this country are very high (unless you count abortion in that factor) thanks to the American medical community. Babies born extremely premature can survive and go on to live normal healthy lives.

“…parents feel comfortable having small families…” What in the world is he talking about? It’s the parents having big families who are the weirdos in this culture. One or two kids is what everyone feels comfortable with. My group of 5 seems small compared to some of my friends and to many others in blogland, and I still get all kinds of rude and shocking behavior when people ask how many children we have. I don’t think there’s any danger of people feeling comfortable having small families.

“…you need to educate girls and empower women…” Well, I think the public school system, the media, Hollywood, and the government are already doing their part to educate girls. As far as empowering women, encouraging women to do what God made them to do, Be Fruitful and Multiply, isn’t exactly what Mr. Gore is referring to. He’s actually suggesting that not becoming a mother is more empowering. Encouraging women not to have children is the most unfulfilling thing I can think of.

Mr. Gore says that when all of that happens, the population will begin to stabilize. The population is actually in danger of decline. There’s no overpopulation here. It’s simply fearmongering. As far as making better choices, I think that ship sailed long ago.

It’s very important when we hear soundbites like this to be able to think for ourselves, utilize the common sense that God gave us, and see if it lines up with scripture. Al Gore, apparently, does not have any common sense and he certainly rejects the scripture’s teachings that:

God commanded humans to be fruitful and multiply (Genesis 1:22).

God commanded humans to have dominion over the earth, not be slaves to it (Genesis 1:28).

God says that children are a blessing and the fruit of the womb is his reward (Psalm 127:3).

This exercise is not for entertainment purposes. It’s to point out how dangerous this whole GREEN movement is. It’s not about recycling your Dr. Pepper cans; it never has been. It’s about so much more, including population control. And if you don’t think they’d like to try it, just sit back and watch.

I’d like to think Americans won’t stand for that, but then too many Americans don’t care what’s going on. That’s how silly statements like the one above eventually turn into legislation.

Watch out for any Presidential candidate who supports “saving the planet” or believes in any kind of Climate Change. Beware of the word GREEN.

Elections matter.

Children are a blessing of the Lord — one of my favorite verses! Family size is an intensely personal matter between husband, wife and God. No room in it for politicians! I love big families; they make me smile — especially yours!
    Blessings!

I have two very different sons. One has been an extrovert since he could talk. The other has been an introvert for just as long. The thing about home education is that it doesn’t have to happen at home. What it really means is “not public school.” Not stuck in a classroom all day. Not confined to a government calendar. Not a slave to the system. 23 years ago I helped my aunt Kari start a homeschool co-op. At that time, I had one child and she was three years old. If you have a child that struggles to read, read to them. Read aloud every day. That’s the best advice I can give. New year. New house. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION: How do I homeschool with babies and toddlers in the mix?? Don’t let people tell you that “you can’t shelter your children.” Yes, you can. And you absolutely should. Mothers have a crucial role to play in society, although their job doesn’t always feel very “crucial.” Wiping baby faces, repeating instructions, settling squabbles, and making food is repetitive and doesn’t always seem important. For 2023, I’ll be preaching the same ol’ message that I can’t stop saying: “education is discipleship,” and “you can do it” homeschooling encouragement. Not gonna make the message easier to swallow when the world is attacking children on a grander scale every day. I’m also not going to tell you that homeschooling is a breeze, but I will keep saying that it’s worth every minute.
