REVIEW: F.O.R.M. homeschool health curriculum

Blog, high school, homeschool, Homeschool Curriculum, Homeschool Reviews

Finding an easy-to-use and interesting health curriculum that does not compromise your values can be tricky. As Christian homeschoolers, we want to give our children a solid foundation in all areas of their education without the addition of unscientific gobbledygook. You know what I’m talking about: boys can be girls, do what makes you happy, etc.

I’ve got a great curriculum to recommend for parents like you: F.O.R.M. It’s an online program with two levels: elementary and middle/high school. The lessons are short videos packed with real information your kids need, accompanied by a Bible study for each lesson. And one of my favorite parts: your purchase unlocks a LIFETIME membership!

Price: $147.

The F.O.R.M. Curriculum

What does FORM mean?

  • Functional Fitness
  • Optimal Nourishment
  • Rest and Recovery
  • Multiplied Maintenance

Each of the above constitutes one pillar of the program. As you can see, the first two are all about fitness and nutrition. The last two help students understand the importance of healthy sleep patterns, wise recreation choices, and self-discipline.

Each pillar includes multiple lessons within that category. The screenshot below shows some of the lessons within Optional Nourishment. Each lesson includes a short video to watch (8-10 minutes, perfect for short attention spans!) on a specific health topic, plus exercise warm-up, training, and cool-down videos, followed by an assessment. Oh, didn’t I mention that this is a self-grading curriculum?!

With the video health topics plus fitness videos, your student will essentially be taking both health and physical education.

As a more naturally-healthy mom, I was pleased to see the nutrition information encourages students to choose whole foods that are minimally processed. Health fuel is broken down into:

  1. Protein
  2. Healthy fats (true healthy fats, like avocado and olive oil)
  3. Healthy carbs (complex carbs)
  4. Veggies and fruits

I also appreciated the section on mental health and media consumption. Students are encouraged to enjoy less screen time and more community time (family, friends, and even teams). I’m constantly telling my teens these things!

As I mentioned above, each lesson includes a devotional (in printable PDF form) that correlates to the topic.

F.O.R.M. health curriculum is such a blessing for busy homeschool families. Traditional “health education” programs are filled with content that doesn’t align with your values and forces you to constantly sift through the content to find what is fitting and relevant. I am thankful that I don’t have to worry about harmful or questionable topics. This is why we homeschool, right?

Homeschool mamas, don’t get caught up in high school credits. Teach your children the really important things BECAUSE they are the really important things. Christopher Columbus. Let's go there. https://www.instagram.com/p/CxNlZ62rG0L/ Albert Einstein on education: Is this your first year homeschooling? Did you just complete your first week, or first month? Did it go perfectly?? Christian: If the public school curriculum and the public school atmosphere include If you have to ask permission to see the curriculum…if you aren’t allowed to question the library books…if you only get three minutes to speak at a school board meeting…if your school teachers or counselors “affirm” made-up genders…if you are held accountable for actions and the school is not…if your child spends 8-10 of their waking hours at school… What makes a good school? Is it the zip code? Your realtor will tell you so. Is it the size? Parents in small rural areas will enthusiastically say, “Yes!” Is it the teachers who go to church? Is it because they say the Pledge of Allegiance? Is it because it’s private? Is it because the teacher loves her students so much? Please don’t tell me it’s the football team. What is it that really makes a good school? 1/2 of the high school students read proficiently.
