I love using copywork in my homeschool, and when the kids begin to learn cursive, there’s no better way to practice neat handwriting than with some beautiful lines of copywork from great writers. So while we were studying the American westward movement, I created cursive copywork from the writings of Laura Ingalls Wilder.
Laura Ingalls Wilder wrote some wonderful wisdom in her Little House book series, but did you know she was a well-known farm writer before she ever published her first book? Her articles appeared in Missouri newspapers for years, and covered all sorts of interesting topics. They are like a warm slice of Americana pie!
I compiled this list of quotes and featured them in cursive for your students to trace and/or copy.

I have found copy work to be a simple and valuable form of language arts instruction. When copying sentences and paragraphs from literature, students get a real “hands-on” training in correct grammar, spelling, sentence structure, punctuation, capitalization, and great writing. With my copywork sheets, they also practice cursive handwriting. My children do copywork every single day. (See my recent Instagram post on this.)
