My Favorite Authors
Laura Ingalls Wilder – I grew up reading the Little House series over and over, even in my adult years. As a child, the books were great stories, but as an adult I really began to see the simple wisdom written there. When I was a child and teen, Laura was my favorite. Now that I’m a wife and mother, I definitely relate to Ma! Read my series Simple Wisdom from Laura Ingalls Wilder.
Jane Austen – Her books are my guilty pleasure. Once I read Pride and Prejudice for the first time, I was hooked. Austen was a brilliant writer who really captured human behavior in a witty way, and also gave us a wonderful look into the short Regency period of England. Read my posts on Jane Austen HERE.
Louis L’amour – He was my first favorite author. I grew up on these westerns. His stories of the Old West are more descriptive and engaging than any I have read. I share this love with four generations of my family. Read my Louis L’amour posts HERE.
J.R. R. Tolkien – The incredible works of Tolkien are among my absolute favorite books. There is so much depth in them that they are worth reading repeatedly. I’ve created a gift guide for Tolkien fans, which you can find HERE.
In the works: Free, printable study guides for The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, and the Silmarillion. I’ve had the pleasure of teaching these books in classes for almost 15 years, and I’m working on putting them in a shareable guide.
